OBITUARY
Lisa Layzell Wise of Springfield, IL, passed away on November 10, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. Lisa was born June 14, 1962 in Taylorville, IL to Paul and Shirley Shafer Layzell. Her father died at an early age and Lisa was adopted by her dad and love of her life, Richard H. Davis. She will forever be his little one.

Lisa attended Taylorville High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University in 1984. On July 14, 1984 she married Todd Wise, also from Taylorville.

Lisa was a lifetime educator. She was the perfect kindergarten teacher, teaching in Minneapolis, Taylorville, and Chatham before retiring in 2015. She believed every child deserved positive instruction and a hug each day. Her uplifting, positive attitude and infectious smile impacted thousands of students and families during her career. Lisa loved to spend time with family and friends and to go shopping. 

Lisa is survived by her husband; mother and dad; brother, John Davis (Kim) of Mesa, AZ; and sister, Lori Layzell Davis of Ashville, NC. Also surviving is daughter, Morgan Durco (Scott) of Chicago, IL; son, Eric Wise of Springfield; and her beloved black Labrador, Chloe. 

Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.

Memorial Ceremony: 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 533 S. Walnut, Springfield, with Rev. Dr. Blythe Denham Kieffer officiating.

Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends following the ceremony until 8:00 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Private family burial was held prior to ceremonies.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Medical Center Foundation, 1000 Churchill, Springfield, IL 62702 or Ball Chatham Education Foundation, 201 W. Mulberry, Chatham, IL 62629. 

Lisa and her family wish to extend a very special thank you to the leadership, physicians, nurses, and staff of Memorial Medical Center, Springfield Clinic, and SIU School of Medicine for the exceptional care and support attended to them during her illness.
