2018 Youth Mission Trip to Nicolas Country, West Virginia
Westminster welcomed 21 youth and 10 adult volunteers led by Rev. Trajan McGill after their mission trip on Sunday, July 15, 2018. They spent the week in Nicholas County, WV making homes warmer, safer, and drier with Appalachia Service Project. Their theme was "Called to Action" from Isaiah 6:8.
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send,
and who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I; send me!’ |
On Sunday, July 1, twenty-one youth were commissioned during the 10:00 a.m. worship service. They joined adult sponsors Nathanial Brower, Susan Day, Bill Deemer, Jen DeJong, Tara Fritsch, Tami Ireland, Anna Koeppel, Amanda Kurmann, Dave Leonatti and Mary Ray led by Rev. Trajan McGill (Associate Pastor for Parish Life) on a mission to Nicholas County, West Virginia sponsored by the Appalachia Service Project. They stayed at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and traveled into the county each day to make home repairs and to spread God's love.
Westminster Youth included: Emma Batterman, Grace Batterman, Drew Borland, Jessica Borland, Ben Brower, Sam Brower, Kenny Guard, Taylor Guard, Jaiana Ireland, Zayne Ireland, Katie Kruger, Maddie Kruger, Barrett Kurmann, Clayton Kurmann, Ella Kurmann, Ross Lockbaum, Samantha Magalis, Natalie Miller, Avery Pound, Allison Scott, and Mack Shepherd.
The youth lead worship at both services on July 15, 2018. This was our third adventure with ASP. Throughout the week, crews of 5 youth and two adults were assigned a painting, drywall, roofing, or construction project on a specific home. Our youth partnered with youth groups from two other churches. The WPC youth are grateful for the congregation’s continued support and prayer
Mission Trip Fundraisers: Many, many thanks to everyone who supported the 2018 Youth Mission through our fundraisers! We could not do it without you.
