Terry Ann Tull Wells 1930 - 2019
Springfield, IL—Terry Ann Tull Wells, 88, of Springfield, passed away at 2:21 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at St. John's Hospital. Terry was born on July 25, 1930 in Kokomo, Indiana, the daughter of Maurice C. and Eleanor Ratliffe Tull. Terry had a life-long interest in music from the time she was four years old and began playing her parents' records on an old wind-up Victrola. She played the piano from the time she was eight years old and played for the rest of her life.
Terry graduated from Kokomo High School and attended Franklin College from 1948-1950. While at Franklin, she was a member of Delta Zeta sorority and Theta Sigma Phi, a national honorary journalism fraternity. Terry worked as a news reporter for the Kokomo Tribune. She was married in 1951 and became a stay-at-home mom. She was divorced in 1981 and began working as an estimator at Phillips Brothers Printers, retiring there in 1998.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by two sons, Steve (wife, Sherry) Wells and Michael Wells, and one daughter, The Rev. Julie (husband, Robert) Blythe. She is also survived by grandchildren, Matthew, Benjamin (partner, Kayla) and Christopher Wells and Brian and Sarah Blythe; one great-granddaughter, Sofia Wells; one great-grandson, Maddox Davis; and her beloved cat, Molly.
Cremation will be accorded by Lincoln Land Cremation Society prior to ceremonies. The family will host a memorial gathering from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 533 S. Walnut Street, Springfield. A memorial ceremony will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Blythe Denham Kieffer and Rev. Lori Schafer officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Westminster Presbyterian Church Parish Hall. Private family inurnment will be at Westminster Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden.
