Alan J. Wallace, 75, of Springfield, died on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born on June 7, 1946, the son of Wilma Sutton Wallace Reddick Freese.
Alan graduated from Crystal City High School in Missouri and from the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and earned his bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science. He went on to become an Actuarial Assistant with Franklin Life for over 30 years. Alan was a lifelong Presbyterian and belonged to Westminster Presbyterian Church for 50 years. He was also a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals and Bob Gibson fan. Alan enjoyed watching movies and discussing politics. He was a kind, gentle, and generous man who loved his family and friends. He said that his greatest accomplishment was adopting his daughter, Claire.
He was preceded in death by his mother and his stepfather, Bob Reddick.
Alan is survived by his wife, Carolyn M. Watkins of Indianapolis, IN; daughter, Claire Wallace of Indianapolis, IN; good friends, Allen and Marcia Monier; and several cousins.
Cremation was provided by Lincoln Land Cremation Society. Family will host a Celebration of Life at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Springfield, on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.
