The Young Children and Worship Experience
Friday, August 21 and Saturday, August 22 at Westminster

Young Children And Worship is a program that presents a joyful way for children to worship God. It invites both children and adults to experience the wonder and mystery of God through a unique storytelling format and multi-sensory materials. Through demonstrations and lectures you can learn to present biblical stories and parables using wooden figures and other materials to create a worship environment that cultivates the imagination and invites children to fall in love with God. Young Children and Worship is recommended for children's worship leaders, pastors, Christian educators, and those working with young children.

The Young Children and Worship workshop will:
  • Show you how to lead and administer this time of worship with children, ages three to seven, and up to sixth  grade.
  • Show you how to prepare a special worship environment, where both children and adults sense the awe and wonder of God.
  • Teach you how to tell the biblical stories and parables, using wooden figures and other materials in a unique storytelling format.
  • Invite you into the joy of worshiping with Children.

About the Leader
Rev. Olivia Stewart is the granddaughter of Sonja Stewart, co-creator of Young Children and Worship. Olivia was in the very first Young Children and Worship center in 1985 and has developed a great love for Children and Worship over the last 28 years. She began to lead training workshops with her Grandmother in 2000 and has done workshops throughout the country. She graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary in 2008 where she received her Masters in Divinity. She is the Minister for Children and Family Ministries in the National Office of the Disciples of Christ Church. She hopes to continue to share Children and Worship with people all over the world and is passionate about the joy and wonder it brings to children as they grow in their relationship with God.
