Kyle Helen Schultz, 79, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021, at Juliette Fowler Communities in Dallas, Texas. Kyle was born on Oct. 28, 1942, in Waukegan, Illinois, the daughter of Helen and Weldon Graham. Kyle graduated from Lake Forest High School and Presbyterian-St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago. She married Dr. William Schultz in 1967 in Lake Forest.
After moving to Springfield, Kyle's many community commitments included volunteering with an arts-enrichment program for children, teaching Sunday school and supporting the League of Women Voters and the Springfield Art Association. Kyle held a variety of offices that included president of the Junior League of Springfield and president of Kids At Heart (Springfield Ronald McDonald House). She also served on the boards of Contact Ministries, Friends of Memorial Medical Center and St. John's Samaritans. She later returned to nursing and worked at the Department of Internal Medicine at SIU School of Medicine until she retired.
Kyle was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother, whose kindnesses enriched the lives of her family. She contributed in ways big and small to make a positive difference in the Springfield community. Her patience, smiling good humor and thoughtfulness will be remembered by her many friends.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. William Schultz, her children, Jennifer Wells (husband Peter) of Auckland, New Zealand, Nathan Schultz (wife Lacy) of Dallas, Texas, and granddaughters Aislin and Briana Wells and Gretchen and Courtney Schultz. A memorial service will be held in April at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Springfield at a day and time to be announced. Those who wish may direct memorial contributions to a charity of their choice.
