Ramona Lou Schmidt of Glendale, Arizona died on September 11, 2020. She was born February 16, 1932 to Louis Michael Schmidt and Maude Sackville Schmidt. She married Edward Taylor in 1953. They divorced in 1974. She graduated from Reynolds Community High School in Reynolds, Illinois. Ramona attended Illinois Wesleyan college for three years, spent a summer at Kansas State University and graduated from Illinois College. She earned an M.A. in Psychology at Sangamon State University, a Masters in Social Work at the University of Illinois and a PHD from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
Ramona worked as an elementary school teacher prior to becoming a clinical social worker. She worked as a therapist for Christian County Mental Health Association in Taylorville from 1974 until her retirement in 2004. She also worked as a part time instructor for Lincoln Land Community College from 1987 to 1993. Additionally she was a field instructor for Social Work Interns from Universities in Illinois and Iowa.
After retirement Ramona was a member of the Library Board and Tumbleweeds Garden Club in Trenton. She also became a Master Gardener. Ramona is survived by all her children: Mikel (Selma) Taylor of Charlotte, North Carolina, Debra Vaughan of Oak Lawn, Karen (Marion) Coffman of Glendale, Arizona, Brent (Diana) Taylor of Wichita, Kansas, and Nathan (Cindy) Taylor of Payson, Arizona, twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren, sister Karen Snowden of West Chicago. No funeral services are planned at this time.
