SPRINGFIELD - Michael R. Kacevicius, 55, died at 6:34 a.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center.
Michael was born Oct. 12, 1958, in Fort Dix, N.J., the son of Joseph and Bessie Orme Kacevicius. He married Lisa A. Rudolph on May 26, 1984, in Dawson; she preceded him in death on July 7, 2013, following her battle with ALS.
Michael was a graduate of Lanphier High School and earned his associate's degree in Nursing at Lincoln Land Community College. He was employed as a nurse for 32 years at Memorial Medical Center and also worked as a CNA instructor at Lincoln Land Community College. He enjoyed playing softball and was on a team called the Rammers for 25 years. He also enjoyed traveling, having a cup of coffee with his friends, and the Word of God.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his son, Brian (wife, Mandy) Kacevicius, of Riverton; daughter, Cassandra Barber, of Springfield; three grandchildren, Jesse Kacevicius, Porter Landgrebe, and Elijah Kacevicius; siblings, Kathy, James, and Tony; and many other extended family members.
The family will host a memorial ceremony at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, at Grace Baptist Church, 2812 S. Walnut, Springfield, with Pastor Dave Brady officiating. Inurnment will be at Westminster Presbyterian Church Columbarium.
