OBITUARY
William "Bill" Arthur Irvine, 79, of Springfield, died at 1:11 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021, at his home.
Bill was born December 10, 1942, in Quincy, IL, the son of William and Edith Venghaus Irvine. He married Martha Louise Volzke on August 21, 1971, in Streator, IL.
Bill graduated from Quincy High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Western Illinois University. Bill was employed with the State of Illinois as Division Chief of Health Facilities Standards. Bill co-founded Healthcare Horizons and HI Care Management in 1983. He consulted with, managed, and owned facilities, as well as provided expert litigation support for long term care facilities. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and was an elder in the Presbyterian Church. Bill was also a member of the Masonic Lodge # 4, Scottish Rite and Ansar Shrine. He enjoyed spending time with the love of his life, Marci, golfing, fishing, reading, watching thoroughbred horse racing, and, as of Sunday, December 12, 2021, he is again enjoying walking in heaven with his little girl dog, Macho.
Bill was a mentor to many in a variety of capacities. He was loving, kind, and generous, and he always had a story to tell.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Bill is survived by his wife, Marci Irvine of Springfield; stepbrother, Larry Pierce of Middletown, IA, and his daughters, Darcy, Laura, and Aimee; stepsister, Judy (Jim) Krone of Avada, CO, and their daughters, Deborah and Rhonda; chosen daughters, Jeni Reilly (Kevin), and their children Kathleen, Shannon, and John Patrick Irvine, and Brenda Bucher (Brad), and their children Drew, Morgan, and Luke.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Visitation and Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 11:30-12:00 on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 533 S. Walnut St., Springfield, IL. A memorial ceremony will follow at 12:00 with Rev. Dr. Blythe Denham Kieffer and Rev. Christian Choi officiating. Illinois COVID-19 guidance will be followed, requiring face coverings. Inurnment will follow at Westminster Memorial Garden Columbarium.
