Geraldine "Gerry" Grigsby Hale 1947 - 2018
Pleasant Plains, IL—Geraldine "Gerry" Grigsby Hale, 71, of Pleasant Plains, died at 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at Heritage Hospice. Gerry was born on September 11, 1947, in Greenville, TN to Ralph, Jr. and Elgeva Potter Grigsby.
Gerry graduated from Morristown High School and obtained a bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Tennessee. She taught Home Economics in Belle Glade, FL, and Jonesboro, TN before staying home with her girls. Gerry worked for the Hamblen County Treasurer's Office and taught Home Economics at both Morristown East and West High before relocating to Central Illinois. She retired as a pre-school screener from Sangamon Area Special Education Department.
Gerry was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, teaching Sunday school and Bible school for many years. She devoted her life to her cherished family and her faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert and Alan Grigsby.
Gerry is survived by her husband of 48 years, Harold Hale; daughters, Christy (Karl) Pound and Jaymie Hale Ngoupa; grandchildren, Avery and Bryce Pound and Sophie and Elodie Ngoupa; brother, Joel (Isabel) Grigsby; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Memorial Gathering and Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 21, 2018, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 533 S. Walnut, Springfield with Rev. Dr. Blythe Denham Kieffer officiating.
A private family inurnment will take place at Westminster Presbyterian Memorial Garden at a later date.
