ELDERS - CLASS OF 2025
DR. SCOTT DAY
Dr. Scott Day is a retired Professor Emeritus and Chair of the Dept. of Educational Leadership at UIS. Scott currently serves on the board of the Springfield Art Association and chairs the Collective Gallery Committee. He teaches wheel clay throwing at SAA. At Westminster, Scott helps maintain the Memorial Garden and he and his wife of 37 years, Susan, sing in the Westminster Choir. Their children include daughter Maggie and son Spencer and one grandchild. |
GREGG HUMPHREY
Gregg is the Executive Director of the Sangamon County Water Reclamation District. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Civil Engineering and serves on several committees with the Springfield/Sangamon County Region Planning Commission. Gregg and his wife, Melanie have two adult children, William (Chip) who lives in Georgia and Alex who lives in Springfield. |
DR. JUDY KNOX
Dr. Judy Knox and her husband, Dr. Todd Knox, joined Westminster in 1995. She taught Sunday School for many years, served on the pastoral search that brought Dr. Kieffer to Westminster, and participated in the Kenya Mission trip. Judy is a dermatologist at Springfield Clinic. Judy and Todd have three adult children Greg, Natalie, and Matthew, who grew up being nurtured and strengthened within this faith community. |
AMANDA KURMANN
Amanda is a lifelong member of Westminster and has raised her three children in the church. She labored alongside her children on Mission Trips. She works for the Autism Program of Illinois as a grant monitor as well as being a Springfield realtor. Amanda served for many years as a volunteer at Springfield Art Association and Springfield High School. She enjoys travel and outdoor activities. |
PAT MCNUTT
Pat joined the church in 2001 and has served as a Deacon. She also participates in the prayer circle, memorial guild, bread guild, and sings in the choir. Her three adult children were all baptized and confirmed at Westminster. Pat is a retired art teacher and continues to use her talent in flower arranging. Additionally, Pat enjoys cooking, growing houseplants, and being an active part in the lives of her four grandchildren. |
JEANNE VANGIESON
Jeanne and her husband, Pete joined Westminster in 1989. Jeanne has served as a Deacon as well as Elder. She currently chairs the Hunger Action Team, coordinates the Fair Trade Ministry along with Becky Martin, sings in the Westminster Choir, and serves on the Membership Committee. Jeanne retired as a Licensing Agent for the Department of Children and Family Services. She and Pete have two adult daughters, Kelsey and Shelby, and two grandchildren. |
WILL HOVEY (YOUTH ELDER)
Will is a junior at Springfield High School and is involved in swimming, golf and tennis. He is an honor student and participates in the SIU School of Medicine program for those interested in becoming a physician. He was baptized and confirmed at Westminster, participates in Youth Group activities, and has played his saxophone for church services. He is active in scouting and is working to become an Eagle Scout. |
