OBITUARY
SPRINGFIELD - Karen Dillon, 63, died at 6:10 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center.
Karen was born August 23, 1951, in Springfield, the daughter of Ronald T. and Gloria M. Williams Patrick. She married Mary A. "Bear" Ray on October 25, 2014, in Springfield.
Karen was a 1970 graduate of Pleasant Plains High School and worked for the State of Illinois Secretary of State Office as a driver services manager. She was a very active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she was active in youth mission trips, teaching Sunday School classes, and working in the church kitchen for all kinds of church events. She was very well known for her scones. She enjoyed decorating cakes, gardening and taking care of children. Karen was a welcoming, humorous and giving woman who inspired people and could be looked up to as a mentor. She will be dearly loved and missed by all of her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald T. Patrick, and two children, Justin William and Samantha Kay Dillon. She is survived by her spouse, Mary A. "Bear" Ray, of Springfield; daughter, Candice L. Dillon of Garden City, Kan.; mother, Gloria Patrick of Salisbury; two siblings, Jacob (wife, Judy) Patrick of Lebanon, N.H., and Vicki Lowery of Salisbury; two grandchildren, Bella and William Athey of Pawnee; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cremation was accorded by Lincoln Land Cremation Society prior to ceremonies.
Memorial Gathering and Ceremony: Family will host a memorial gathering and receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial ceremony at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2014, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 533 S. Walnut St., Springfield, with the Rev. Dr. Blythe Denham Kieffer officiating. Inurnment will follow at Westminster Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden.
