Springfield. Ruth T. Benjamin, 90, of Springfield died Friday, November 15, 2002 at Memorial Medical Center.
She was born on September 4, 1912 in Nettleton, Mississippi, the daughter pf Perry King and Zilpah Thomas, Sr. She had been married to Joseph E. West and then to Grant Benjamin, both of whom preceded her in death. A daughter, Mary Virginia, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Benjamin was a graduate of Huntington College in Montgomery, Alabama. She taught in the Springfield Public Schools for many years. She was active in Delta Kappa Gamma and P.E.O. and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for 60 years.
Survivors: A son, J.E. "Ed" West (wife, Gail), two step-daughters, Betsy Ruklick and Gail Benjamin of Springfield, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lincoln Memorial Garden.
