Mary Terry Norton

Mary Norton, 87, of Harrison TN, formerly of Springfield, IL, died at 4:13 a.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Life Care Center of Ooltewah in TN.Mary was born on February 23, 1937, the daughter of Owen E. and Elva (Bruner) Terry.
She attended a one room school in South Elba Township, she went on to graduate from Yates City High School in 1954. Mary then attended Cottage Hospital School of Nursing in Galesburg. She worked as a nurse and also worked for the State of Illinois Division of Special Care of Children, where she retired in 2002. Mary enjoyed crafts, collecting seashells from Florida, and traveling, especially to Australia and New Zealand.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Theresa Norton Greco.
She is survived by her son, Donald (Beth) Norton; five grandchildren, Joseph and Alex Greco, Kaiti, and Lauren Norton, and Madison Hamilton; and one great-grandchild.
Cremation was provided prior to ceremonies.
Memorial Gathering and Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 533 S. Walnut St, Springfield. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Blythe Denham Kieffer officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to: United Cerebral Palsy (Springfield, IL Chapter)
The family is being served by Boardman-Smith Funeral Home, 800 S. Grand Ave. West, Springfield, IL.
