Digging for Treasures Vacation Bible School
Mission Accomplished! June 12-16
Thanks to our incredible leadership team of 48 youth and adults, we welcomed 82 registered children (58 of whom were from our community). Together we gave thanks and praised the God who is made known to us in the parables.
We learned to LISTEN, GROW, FIND AND ASK!
Children in our Springfield Community ages three through grade five enjoyed Bible stories, crafts, science, games, music and delicious snacks. Mission projects included Give-a-Meal-a-Month and African Water Project. The five-day program, led by Reverend Sarah Iliff McGill, brought children both stories and activities about the sower and the seed, the lost sheep and lost coin, the mustard seed, and others. Children will find the spiritual wealth in these priceless stories from Jesus.
Each day the children journeyed across the Bridge to the Land of Terabithia with their friends Jesse and Leslie. In this quiet, holy, safe place they discovered the treasure of God's word and spent time in prayer. We learned five parables during the week as we discovered what the kingdom of God looks like in the parables of the sower, the mustard seed, and the leavened bread. We learned that God is reliable in the parables of the shepherd and the woman, and we learned the importance of prayer in the parable of the neighbor.
Marion Medical Mission
Shallow Wells for Clean Water in Africa
Thank you for the generosity of our VBS families who To date, helped us raise $242 from the donations to build a well in Africa. Last year over 1200 wells were built through the Marion Medical Mission program providing clean water for over 450,000 people. All donations go to the wells which each costs $400 and all labor is donated by volunteers and the people being served.
Together we collected 50 items for Give-a-Meal-a-Month bags for Central Illinois Food Bank
