Westminster Presbyterian Women is a local chapter of the Presbyterian Women (PW), the national women's organization of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) See additional information at http://www.pcusa.org/pw/.
Its presence at Westminster has been felt since 1840 when women began gathering at Westminster Presbyterian and a little “Circle of Prayer” was started by the wife of the Reverend Albert Hale. While the names have changed and the types, ways and means of providing service have evolved, women have tended the candle by keeping the basic mission consistent – faith comes first, then works.
Today at Westminster Presbyterian Church, women of all ages join each other and share similar interests, ideals and experiences in small group settings to enjoy each others fellowship while engaging in ways to help serve the community and support outreach programs for Health and Educational Missions.
Each woman who makes this local connection with Presbyterian women around the world makes a difference by helping tend the candle. Each woman’s participation flames the fire of faith, fellowship and service that provides strength for difficult times, inspiration and funding to further the Presbyterian mission.
Every woman is encouraged to connect with a circle when she joins the church. This provides a support system to help her move through the season of her own life, as well as gives her an opportunity to serve other in faithful giving. If you are a member and not connected with a circle yet, today is a good day to get connected or to start a new circle.

Presbyterian Women participate in the following programs:
Members provide birthday cakes on the third Wednesday of each month to residents at the Presbyterian Home. Birthday cards are sent to residents by the team chairperson.
Illinois Presbyterian Home Volunteers help make the transition from home to retirement living as pleasant an experience as possible for the residents of the Presbyterian Home.
Catering - This team will contract to provide food and/or service for outside groups who rent our facilities. This provides men and women opportunities to familiarize themselves with the kitchen and is a money-making project for the church.
Meals on Wheels are delivered twice a year: two weeks in May and two weeks in December through a program sponsored by the American Red Cross and Memorial Medical Center.
